Gregory Paul Shook - Music and Artistic Director: (back) Greg Shook, a native of Hagerstown, received his early music training as an oboist and completed his Bachelor of Music degree with high honors at the University of Maryland. He has performed with the Harrisburg Symphony, the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, National symphony orchestra, the Washington Bach Consort, as well as presented numerous solo recitals and done freelance orchestral work. Mr. Shook subsequently entered seminary, where he received certification in his music and was consecrated as a Diaconal Minister of Music by the United Methodist church. He served as Minister of Music at John Wesley United Methodist Church and Minister of Music/ Associate Pastor at Hagerstown Church of the Brethren. In October 2003 he became the pastor at Woodbridge Church of the Brethren in Woodbridge, Virginia. He has served as an adjudicator and guest conductor for choruses and choral festivals throughout the Eastern United States. In 1993 Gregory Shook and Ned Wetherald co-founded the Hagerstown Choral Arts. The group was formed for the purpose of bringing a larger community vocal ensemble to the Washington County area. He was awarded the master of church music degree from Shenandoah Conservatory, Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, where he studied with Dr. Steven Cooksey. He studied at Shepherd College and later received his bachelor of music degree from the University of Maryland, College Park with high honors in music. Greg Shook is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, the American Guild of Organists, Choristers Guild, Fellowship of United Methodist Musicians and Hymn Society of America. He recently received a Master of Church Music degree from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. Daniel Miller Accompanist and Rehearsal assistant Daniel Miller is an experienced accompanist and music director based in Winchester, Virginia. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music in Church Music from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. He most recently completed a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano degree in May of 2008. At Shenandoah, Dan accompanies the Opera Workshop and also accompanies many vocal and instrumental student lessons and performances. In addition to Hagerstown Choral Arts, Dan performs as keyboard artist with Winchester Baroque, a period instrument ensemble, and is Organist and Choir Director at Grace Episcopal Church in Berryville, Virginia. He has been an accompanist for Winchester Musica Viva, and for six years was Assistant Director and Accompanist with the Washington Women’s Chorus. While in Washington, Dan also worked with the Capitol Hill Chorale and was Director of Music at Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church. He has accompanied and directed many church, community, and university choral ensembles and musical theater productions throughout his career.
